Kellogg Bird Sanctuary

August, MI 49012

Join us for a sneak peek of the smallest bird in Michigan, the Ruby-throated Hummingbird, at our Hummingbird Banding Demonstration on Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2024, beginning at 6:30 p.m. Brenda and Rich Keith from the Kalamazoo River Valley Bird Observatory (a program of the Kalamazoo Nature Center) will bring their expertise in hummingbird banding to the Sanctuary. Brenda is one of only a few hummingbird banders in Michigan. As you can imagine, banding a hummingbird takes an extreme amount of skill.

The program will include a banding demonstration in the Sanctuary's Pollinator Garden, along with a learning presentation on the research and data that is collected through the banding program and its importance.
